There is something elemental about the glide and flow of the nib and the ink on paper. Handwriting reveals much more than one’s personality. As a part of the Expression Club students of all classes were meted out an opportunity to showcase their handwriting skills at the Inter House Handwriting Competition on August 31, 2019
29th of August is celebrated as ‘National Sports Day’ to pay tribute to the great legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. As is customary at CBS, to commemorate the birth anniversary of ‘The Wizard’ this year too, the sports department organized the Inter School Sports Quiz Competition ‘SPOUIZ’ for the sports enthusiasts of classes IX – XII from various renowned schools of the town namely Welham Boys’ School, St. Jude’s School, Brooklyn School and Tula’s International School.
The first round was a warm up session which was based on general questions on sports and famous sports personalities. The second round was based on Terminology of games and sports with audio and visuals. The successive rounds were based on questions underlining famous tournaments and stadiums and about Common wealth, Asian and National games and Olympics. During the fervent rounds the participants gave a tough battle to each other and finally the results were declared. Amidst loud cheer and thunderous clapping, Brooklyn School emerged winner with 440 points and lifted the Inter School Sports Quiz Trophy after defeating their nearest rival Welham Boys’ School. On the final score tally Tula’s International School stood third and St. Jude’s School stood fourth.
A friendly Basketball Match was played on August 24, 2019 between CBS and Parade Ground Club. The latter stood winner with a score of 60-35.
On 20th and 21st August, 2019 7-A side Under 15 category football matches were held and CBS emerged winner in both the league matches qualifying for the semi-finals. CBS lost in the semi-finals. However, Gurmanjeet Singh from CBS was proclaimed the Best Goalkeeper.

Over the three days of August, 2019, The Doon School Model United Nations Conference brought together students from all over India for a critical examination of the foreign policy choices in terms of different agendas allotted to the delegates representing a particular country. The conference was combined with short presentations accompanied by structured discussion sessions on the challenges and opportunities every country is currently grappling with. The objective of this conference was threefold: To foster discussion and strengthen connections amongst students from various schools, create a virtual thought process and scenario planning. CBS boys Garvit Jain, Prateek Chandel, Mrinangshu Sen Gupta Das and Prartit Ghorai very proudly and enthusiastically participated in the conference and grabbed a lot about various global concepts.
Our freedom is brought to us, courtesy of the outstanding men and women who serve and have served this country with their dedication, pride and sacrifice. The 73rd Anniversary of India’s Independence Day was celebrated with zeal and fervour. The Headmaster administered the hoisting of the national flag, while the school choir sang the national anthem followed by some very heart touching patriotic songs of the homecoming of the warriors and their sacrifices. To mark the day, the annual essay writing competition was also conducted highlighting the importance of freedom, how we attained it and the sacrifices of the Martyrs during the struggle for independence. Many field games were also organized. The school campus stood resplendent with the tricolour proudly swaying to the breeze.
Writing provides an avenue for expressing thoughts and harnessing critical thinking abilities. On the occasion of 73rd. anniversary of India’s Independence, an Essay Writing Competition was held to reminisce the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. The winners of the competition are:

As a tribute to Late Mr. Abhai Singh, former Principal Colonel Brown Cambridge School, a Tree Plantation Drive was undertaken on August 11, 2019. To enable students realise their moral responsibility towards the environment, an informative Orientation Session was also conducted to
enlighten students on the importance of trees and the uses of some special species that were planted on campus like Amla, Jarul and Ficus. Despite heavy rains the students ranging from Classes I- XII very enthusiastically participated and made the drive a success.
Gurmanjeet Singh of Class VIII celebrated his birthday on August 7, 2019 and planted a sapling in the school campus.
